During the first weekend of September 2016, there were some big jiu jitsu events, such as the Brazilian invite only in house tournaments and the LA Grand Slam.
Roberto Jimenez, the rising teenage star, has won fights against black belts since his green belt days. In June 2016, Jimenez was a breakout star of the Royal Grappling tournament, claiming victory in the combined purple/blue belt category.
Over the weekend, he beat Jason Soliz on points in a Texas tournament. This is the fourth time that Jimenez has defeated a black belt during his fledgling career. Amazing.
