The 12th edition of EBI has happened, and this year’s tournament featured an all women cash prize event and a small combat jiu-jitsu tournament also featuring women.
Pati Fontes was eliminated by Katherine Shen in the 1st round. Shen works with the Martinez brothers of 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu.
Also beaten in the first round was Kristina Barlaan. Like the defeat of Fontes, this came as a surprise to many, considering Barlaan holds the bronze medal in that category. Gabby Romero was able to defeat Barlaan during overtime.
We also saw Gabby McCombs beat out Talita Alencar, working a good hold and overall strategy at Overtime.
In the finals we saw Erin Blanchfield face off against Gabby McComb, a skilled competitor who trains under Gracie Humaita’s Leticia Ribeiro. However, McComb was not able to fight effectively and Erin Blanchfield took the win.

Llima Lei McFarlane defeated Celine Haga by way of kimura in the finals while both competitors earned their spot in the finals by over time victories.
