If there is one person out there who can truly empathize with Ronda Rousey, it is probably Jon “Bones” Jones.
Both Rousey and Jones dominated their divisions to the point where many questioned whether anyone could dethrone them. For Jones, this is still a question MMA fans mull over, considering Bones only has one controversial disqualification loss on his record.
Both also fell from tops of their respective divisions’ mountains after suffering humiliating defeats. In Ronda’s case, this was due to being dominated not once, but twice in her last two MMA fights.
In Jones’ case, it was due to his own personal demons.
Despite the differences of their downfalls, Jones and Rousey have both faced the rather harsh brand of criticism that sports fans are notorious for. It is perhaps partially for this reason that Bones felt the need to reach out to the fallen former Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and tell her to keep her chin up.
My advice to Ronda would be to pick yourself up and try again.
