In the near future, fans in the U.S. and Canada will be able to stream ONE matches via Amazon Prime, as the Singapore-based promotion has signed a 5-year deal to broadcast a minimum of 12 live events per year.
Chatri Sityodtong broke the news in the celebration via social media on Wednesday,
In a statement, he explained further,
“ONE Championship is thrilled to work with Prime Video, one of the largest premium sports content providers in the world, to bring our live events closer to fans in the United States and Canada. As the world’s largest martial arts organization, we believe our collaboration with Prime Video will allow us to reach a wider North American audience that is hungry for an authentic and differentiated product you simply cannot get with any other organization. We look forward to showcasing the absolute greatest martial artists on the planet right here in the ONE Championship Circle and on Prime Video.”
ONE joins Amazon’s sports lineup alongside the NFL’s Thursday Night Football, bringing one of the world’s largest martial arts promotions into a greater spotlight in North America. Amazon has previously shown UFC ppv events, but ONE’s variety of martial arts matches makes the deal especially exceptional. As ONE commonly hosts Submission Grappling matches and has signed a roster that is weighted with some of the biggest names in jiu-jitsu, there will now be a new level of viewership for the sport of jiu-jitsu.
In a statement, Amazon praised ONE’s diversity. Not only for showcasing many different styles of martial arts, but also for committing to female athletes,
“We are proud to add exclusive coverage of ONE Championship events to our suite of marquee live sports offerings,” said Marie Donoghue, vice president of global sports video at Amazon. “In addition to offering a full suite of martial arts disciplines, ONE Championship shares our mutual commitment to elevate female athletes, boasting five reigning female world champions.”
Gordon Ryan also celebrated the deal in an instagram post,
The date of ONE’s debut on Amazon is expected to be announced within the next year.
