Petition Calls Lyoto Machida’s Suspension Unfair, Close To Getting 5000 Signatures

A petition on change.org is trying to remove the suspension of UFC Middleweight Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida.

Lyoto was handed his suspension for using the drug 7 Keto, described in the petition as “a popular over the counter supplement amongst many UFC fighters and other athletes which boosts the immune system, aids in recovery from training and promotes weight loss.”  The drug was originally allowed by the UFC.

The individual who wrote the petition, Anthony Lynch, called Machida’s action a “completely innocent mistake,” and claims The Dragon’s 18-month sentence is “harsh.”

Apparently, many agree, as the petition has 4,435 of its 5,000-signature goal.  Once the goal is reached, the petition will be sent off to the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) in the hopes that they will repeal Machida’s suspension.

Lyoto Machida is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.  Though he holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he is primarily known for his karate-based fighting style.
