Robert Whittaker Promoted To Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is officially a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Whittaker, who earned his brown belt in 2017, was promoted by his coach Alex Prates of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Smeaton Grange. Whittaker has spent his career not only as a decorated MMA fighter, but also as a passionate jiu-jitsu practitioner. He has competed in the gi during his time as a professional MMA fighter and is celebrated in the BJJ community for his love of the art.

Whittaker shared a heartfelt post sharing the news:

“Honoured to be handed my black belt from my coach and friend @alexprates07 . Started Gi 16 years ago and I’m stoked to have hit this milestone in my career. Lookout world. If you’re in so much as a long sleeve shirt. Danger.

Hopefully we’ll be able to see Whittaker competing in some high-level jiu-jitsu in the near future!
