“To bring the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam® brand to London once again for the final leg of the tour is really great, it is a special city. We have seen the sport of jiu-jitsu grow steadily over the past few years in London, for example we are expecting the highest number of British players compared to the past two seasons.

“We will be back for the fourth season in July 2018 to continue this incredible journey of the gentle art. I can’t thank enough all our sponsors and TV partners for truly making the Grand Slam a global brand and we are working very hard to achieve our goal of making this a sustainable sports tournament” Said H.E. Abdulmunam Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation, President of Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union & Senior Vice President of Jiu-Jitsu International Federation

“Competitions like the Grand Slam are encouraging jiu-jitsu players to take the sport more seriously, because it is providing them the highest platform to compete for glory. As an athlete you cannot ask for more really. I have participated in the past two Grand Slams in London, but it was my first time to compete at one of the legs outside of London. I look forward to have the Grand Slam back in London and compete in front of my home crowd. London is warming up to the sport of jiu-jitsu, the number of schools and academies teaching jiu-jitsu have increased in the past couple of years.” Said Samantha Cook, British black belt champion
