2018 UAEJJF World Pro champion Amal Amjahid and her stepfather/coach, Khalid Houry, will now be able to travel to the United States after previously experiencing immigration problems while attempting to travel to California for IBJJF Worlds.

Amjahid announced the news on her social media on Thursday, saying that the U.S. embassy in her native Brussels helped the duo settle their immigration issues — the two have since been granted a ten-year visa that will allow them to visit the United States to compete.

Last week, Houry was denied entry to the United States, preventing him from cornering Amjahid during her matches at Worlds. Amjahid withdrew from the competition as a result, saying that she wouldn’t enter the U.S. without Houry by her side.
