BJJ Black Belt And Accomplished Competitor Killed in Road Rage Incident

A 29 year old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Guma Epfane Vasconcelos, was killed in São Domingos do Maranhão, Brazil. The road rage incident happened on Tuesday, and surveillance video has left the BJJ community with a lot of questions.

While the events leading up to the altercation are unknown, Vasconcelos appears to be the aggressor based on the surveillance footage. The motorcyclist appears to present a gun as he backs away, but that does not deter Vasconcelos. Ultimately, the worst happens, and you should be aware that some may find the surveillance video disturbing.

Why would a trained martial artist continue to advance aggressively on an armed opponent who appears to be behaving defensively?
