Conor McGregor Says That He’s Retiring From MMA

Controversial UFC fighter Conor McGregor has announced via Twitter that he’s retiring from MMA.

The former light and featherweight champion wrote the post early this morning.

“Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!”

Further details are currently unknown, so it’s unclear if McGregor is serious, if it’s an early April Fool’s joke, or if it’s a temporary move. Some have speculated that it’s a bluff to negotiate more pay.

McGregor lost his most recent fight to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Earlier this month, he was arrested after a confrontation in which he destroyed a fan’s phone outside a Miami Beach hotel.
