Conor McGregor Teases Nate Diaz Trilogy

Conor McGregor vs diaz trilogy

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor is easily the most talked about MMA fighter — and maybe even the most talked about fighter — in combat sports today. The 29-year-old Irishman is not only famous for dominating the UFC’s featherweight class right before taking the division’s strap from Jose Aldo in a matter of seconds, but he also made headlines when he absolutely demolished former Bellator and UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez to become a two-division champ.

Conor has since taken a break from MMA so he can stand toe-to-toe with one of boxing’s GOAT’s, Floyd Mayweather, in a much hyped bout that will be going down this Saturday on Showtime.

However, it seems that Conor still hasn’t gotten over his loss last year to Nate Diaz.

“I have a trilogy fight in waiting, also,” Conor told reporters in Mexico. Though he didn’t mention him by name, he was obviously referring to Diaz, considering Nate is the only person McGregor has fought twice.

Conor lost his welterweight debut against Nate Diaz at UFC 196, tapping to a rear naked choke in the second round. Diaz, who normally fights at lightweight, was also fighting outside of his division and was not even a top 5 fighter in his weight class.

Though The Notorious was able to defeat Diaz in their last fight at UFC 202, it was a decision win, which typically doesn’t carry as much respect from fans as a finish does.

Furthermore, Conor is now the UFC Lightweight Champion; therefore, he is now at the top of the division Diaz usually fights in. Being that Nate is not only the last person to have defeated McGregor, but the man who ended his 15-fight win streak, it only makes sense that they should go at it for the belt and put an end to their tied rivalry.
