The main event of Fight 2 Win 145 saw the return of jiu-jitsu legend Xande Ribeiro as he took on ADCC veteran Gabriel Almeida in the gi in a fast-paced, action-packed finale to another great night of matches in Dallas.
The match started off with a bang, with Ribeiro throwing on a flying triangle within seconds of the match starting and Almeida recovering and immediately throwing on a toehold. After they were both out of immediate danger, the match slowed slightly, with Almeida working his guard as Ribeiro tried to pass. A brief scramble resulted in Ribeiro taking Almeida’s back, but Almeida managed to escape both from the back control and then Ribeiro’s subsequent attempts to work from the top.
Ribeiro then decided to pull guard, but managed to work his way to the top position. Almeida then reversed the position, but his time on top was short-lived as Ribeiro returned to his pressure-heavy passing attempts. Ribeiro worked from quarter-guard, transitioning from attacking the lapel to the beginnings of a head-arm choke before getting his foot out and working his way into an armbar attempt. Though Almeida managed to successfully defend for a short time, Ribeiro managed to extend the arm and get the tap.
Ribeiro was declared the winner via armbar.
