Henry Cejudo Undergoes Shoulder Surgery, Will Likely Be Unable To Fight Until 2020

Henry Cejudo is fresh off a third-round TKO win from UFC 238, but it may be a while before we see the bantamweight and flyweight champion in the Octagon again.

According to ESPN, Cejudo sustained an injury in the first round of his June 8 fight with Marlon Moraes. Per the report, Cejudo tore his subscapularis muscle, and with recovery for the surgery taking up to five months, it’s highly unlikely that Cejudo will be ready to fight before the end of the year.

Cejudo revealed the news of the successful surgery to his fans on social media.

Cejudo has made waves in the UFC this year, first by defending his flyweight title against TJ Dillashaw with a first-round knockout and then by winning the bantamweight title against Moraes earlier this month. He had also mentioned attempting to earn the featherweight title before the news of his injury was released.
