Last week, 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard was found dead after a month-long investigation following her disappearance in Auburn, Alabama, on October 23. Three suspects were taken into custody, and the case developed into a homicide investigation.

Now, an autopsy has confirmed that the cause of Blanchard’s death was a gunshot wound. Capital murder charges have now been filed against Ibraheem Yazeed, the 30-year-old suspect who was initially brought in on charges of first-degree kidnapping. He is currently the only person being charged with Blanchard’s death.

Blanchard’s stepfather, Walt Harris, is a UFC fighter. His prominence in the MMA industry helped Blanchard’s case receive widespread attention, with other major UFC figures like Dana White and Jon Jones donating to Blanchard’s reward fund and pleading with the public for their help in finding the young woman.
