Jacare Souza Undergoes Successful Surgery For Fractured Humerus

Over the weekend, MMA fans collectively gasped as Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was submitted by Andre Muniz in the final fight of the prelims at UFC 262. The armbar that Muniz applied resulted in a loud snap and a sudden shift of Souza’s arm, indicating that he’d broken the limb.

You can watch the video below, but be advised that it may be disturbing to some viewers:

Souza’s doctor, Rickson Moraes, told MMA Fighting that Souza had suffered a fractured humerus as a result of the submission and that he’d be undergoing surgery to repair the break. As of yesterday, Souza has revealed that his surgery is complete and “everything is well.”

No word yet on when we can expect to see Jacare back in action, but for now, he’s at least on the road to recovery.
