In what sounds like the plot to a dream your annoying coworker insisted on telling you about before you’d even had your coffee for the day, singer Justin Bieber has challenged Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise to an MMA fight.
“Why?” you ask. Well, it’s a mystery so far. The best guess anyone has is that Bieber wants to put Cruise’s action hero stunts to the test in the real world.
“Who cares?” you ask in the comment section, uncaringly spending your time typing out a rhetorical question on a topic that you don’t care about to show the world how much you (and I can’t stress this enough) don’t care. So far, though, a lot of people have taken note of the challenge, including Conor McGregor himself.
In reply to Bieber’s original tweet, McGregor asked the question we’re all wondering: is the 56-year-old Cruise “man enough” to take on a 25-year-old opponent who needs more attention than he already gets from being an internationally recognized pop star?
McGregor also offered to fight actor Mark Wahlberg on the same card because why not at this point.
Now, people are actually betting on these hypothetical celebrity fights.
Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, has also chimed in with some interesting suggestions.
While the idea of a celebrity UFC card is certainly appealing, it’s unlikely to happen. As of now, Cruise is making a wiser decision than all of us by simply not responding to the drama.
