Kayla Harrison is the first American to win gold, but she and Jimmy Pedro are not the only Americans to win medals at the Olympics. On Tuesday, Travis Stevens won silver in the men’s 81kg division. In 2012, when Kayla won her first gold, Marti Malloy won bronze. In 2008, Ronda Rousey won a bronze in Beijing. Jimmy Pedro won bronze in Athens.

The first Olympic medal won by an American happened in 1964, when Dennis Bregman took bronze in Tokyo.
