Fight 2 Win 149 has experienced quite a shakeup following the withdrawal of one of the competitors in the main event.

Keenan Cornelius, who was set to compete against Gabriel Almeida in the main event tomorrow night, has had to pull out due to a back injury. Though Cornelius won’t be taking the stage, he’ll have a whopping eight students from his academy, Legion Jiu-Jitsu, that will be representing his team.

We’ll still get to see Almeida in action, though — Manuel Ribamar has opted to take Cornelius’ place at the last minute. Ribamar is coming off the momentum of a win at F2W 147 against Jonatha Alves, coming home with the black belt middleweight gi title in the process. To make matters even more exciting, this will be a rematch between Ribamar and Almeida. The two grapplers have gone head-to-head three times so far, once at F2W 115, once in the finals at the SJJIF Worlds in 2018, and most recently in the No-Gi Worlds finals last year. Ribamar has come out ahead in all of their black belt matches so far, but could the last-minute nature of his replacement provide the edge that Almeida needs to win this match?

Fight 2 Win 149 will take place on Friday, August 14 and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
