Mario Lopez Takes Gold At Phoenix IBJJF Open

Mario Lopez’ hard work on the mats paid off this past weekend when he stood on top of the podium at the Phoenix IBJJF Open.

He competed in the Masters 4 Blue Belt Light division with his wife Courtney Mazza Lopez in the crowd to cheer him on.

A post on Lopez’ Instagram shows some nice takedowns and passing against two different opponents. It was all smiles as he had his arm raised both times.

Lopez also took home gold at a recent tournament in Orange County, California back in February. However, according to iHeartRadio’s ‘On With Mario Lopez’, this will be his last time competing.

For someone who could practically do anything he wants with his time, it’s inspiring to see him continuously choose difficult paths such as his jiu-jitsu journey which has seen him train alongside names such as Orlando Sanchez and Gordon Ryan, to boxing at Freddie Roach’s legendary Wild Card Boxing Club.

With four stripes on his blue belt at the top of this weekend’s podium, we can only imagine that a promotion must be around the corner for him.
