Mikey Musumeci Vs. Thiago Macedo To Headline 3rd Coast Grappling 5

3rd Coast Grappling is planning its next big night after a summer full of Kumite events, and they’re closing out the year with an impressive card packed with local and international jiu-jitsu stars.

3CG V, set to take place on December 19, will go out with a bang, finishing the night off with a headlining match between Thiago Macedo and Mikey Musumeci. Macedo boasts a long list of big wins, most recently coming home with gold at Pans earlier this year. He’s a highly decorated competitor in the IBJJF and the UAEJJF, and while his match at 3CG will certainly be a departure from the type of competition he’s usually found at, he’ll be sure to welcome the challenge.

Even an athlete as accomplished as Macedo, however, will have a hard time against Musumeci. The three-time world champion loves a challenge, which he proved earlier this year when he entered the absolute division at Euros and made it all the way to the quarter-finals despite competing as low as 57kg. Musumeci is perhaps one of the most beloved elite BJJ athletes out there, and fans will be sure to tune in to see whether he or Macedo can pull out the big win.

The co-main event will see William Tackett take on Fellipe Andrew. Tackett is one of the sport’s fastest rising stars, having made a name for himself all the way back at blue belt. He’s since gone up against much older and more experienced competitors, most recently helping Team Level Black make it to the finals at Subversiv 4.

Tackett is a familiar face for 3CG fans, but then, so is his opponent. Andrew has perhaps been one of the most active top-level competitors of 2020, making multiple appearances at 3CG Kumite events in addition to other competitions throughout the year. His hard work paid off when he won the open weight division at Pans last month, and it’s a testament to his tenacity and Tackett’s skill level that he’s willing to take this match.

Also on the card will be a match between 2019 brown belt no-gi world champion (and 2018 purple belt no-gi world champion) Pedro Marinho and 2019 ADCC West Coast Trials winner John Combs. Jordan Holy vs. Ruben Rivera, Adam Bradley vs. Bruno Matias, and Alana Holy vs. Jennifer Rivera will be featured on the card as well.

There are more matches still to be announced, but in the meantime, keep your calendars clear for December 19, when 3CG V will go down in Houston, TX, and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
