Myk Board, Creative Director For Fight 2 Win, Passes Away Suddenly Due To Heart Attack

Graphic designer and Fight 2 Win creative director Michael “Myk” Board has tragically and unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack. He was 42 years old and leaves behind three children, ages 25, 23, and 16.

Board contributed to posters for multiple jiu-jitsu and MMA promotions, including Fight 2 Win, Subversiv, the first three Who’s Number One events, and ADCC 2019. His work has become a signature look particularly for F2W and Subversiv, with crisp, colorful, bold posters announcing athlete matchups throughout the promotions’ histories.

Fight 2 Win CEO Seth Daniels shared a tribute to Board and recounted the story of their friendship and working relationship:

“I received the tragic news a few hours before Subversiv yesterday that my great friend, graphic designer, creative director of Fight To Win Since Day 1 (May 2008) Myk [Board] passed away with a sudden heart attack. Myk and I worked together at 24 hour fitness starting in 2005 he worked graveyards so he could work on his graphic arts degree. When I started F2W with no money Myk made our first Logo, our first tournament poster our first mma poster for free. Over the years we grew together to the point that one day I was able to get him to quit his corporate job he hated and work solely for Fight To Win and for him to pursue his fitness journey helping others.

If you ever fought at Fight To Win MMA, Paramount, ADCC, F2W Pro or ever entered a tournament Myk made your poster. I talked to Myk every day for over 15 years thru all the ups and downs Myk was always there and gave me 100% of his ability and his work effort was second to none. I am canceling some of our events to figure out the next direction as Myk is not someone I can easily replace in business and in my life. You will be missed by so many and I am so grateful for your loyalty, friendship and hustle for the past 15 plus years. Till I see you again rest well my brother”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Board’s family pay for funeral costs and any other support they may need in their time of grief. Donations to the fund can be made here.
