Purple Belt Roberto Jimenez Submits 11 Opponents To Win Double Gold At Worlds

Alliance Spring’s Roberto Francisco Jimenez won gold in both the heavyweight division and the open class at the IBJJF World Championship earlier today.

Jimenez, a purple belt and teenager, had to win six matches to conquer his division and five to win the open class. He did so in spectacular fashion, winning all of his matches by submission, but for those who’ve followed his path in competitive jiu-jitsu, even this isn’t entirely surprising — when the Jiu-Jitsu Times interviewed him last year as a sixteen-year-old blue belt, he had already submitted five black belts in competition.

Congratulations @robertojimenezbjj on winning double gold at @ibjjf worlds 2018!

This isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of this talented young athlete, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him as he moves up the ranks.
