Renzo Gracie Set For ONE Championship MMA Debut In July In Manila

Renzo Gracie — sixth-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and former UFC fighter — will be making his return to the cage on July 27.

Renzo will be fighting for the Asian mixed martial arts organization ONE Championship. The fight will take place in Manila, and the event will be called “Reign of Kings.”

The news was reported on ONE Championship’s website.

Gracie holds a 13-7-1 (1) record in mixed martial arts. As can be expected, most of his wins have come by way of submission. However, he has not set foot in the MMA cage since 2010, when he fought and lost against former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who is notable for being one of only two people to have defeated Georges St-Pierre (Interestingly, Matt Serra, the other guy to have beaten St-Pierre, is one of Renzo’s students).

Renzo will be taking on another former UFC fighter, Yuki Kondo, who has over 100 fights under his belt. Kondo is a Kenpo black belt as well as a former Light Heavyweight and Middleweight Champion in Pancrase.

Reign of Kings will be going down at 7pm Manila time, which is 7am EST in the US. We’re not sure if ONE will be airing the bout free online again.
