RESULTS: Kayla Harrison With Huge First-Round Armbar Win In MMA Debut Over Brittney Olinda Elkin

Kayla Harrison made her MMA debut tonight at Professional Fighters League 2, and she made it with an exclamation point.

The Olympic Judo gold medalist took on Brittney Olinda Elkin during the main card of PFL 2, and made short work of her in a way that was reminiscent of another judoka turned MMA fighter (and roommate of Harrison), the former and original UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.

Harrison and Elkin touched gloves and Kayla closed the distance immediately, pressing Elkin up against the cage. She took her down seconds later with an inside trip. Harrison stood up and immediately landed a hard punch and then held Elkin down. Kayla then took the back and sunk one of her hooks in. Harrison flattened her out and softened her up with some punches.

Elkin stayed calm and pushed her way up into a sitting position, but Harrison stayed on her back and continued to land some hard punches. Kayla then hooked her arm under Brittney’s arm and prepared for an armbar. She rolled, and after a brief struggle tapped Elkin out.

Could the UFC be in Kayla Harrison’s future? Could she be following in Rousey’s footsteps?

Only time will tell.
