Richie “Boogeyman” Martinez Vs. Jake Shields Announced As Submission Underground 11 Co-Main Event

The highly anticipated Submission Underground 11 is just over a month away, and we now have an exciting co-main event to look forward to.

The promotion has announced that 10th Planet star Richie “Boogeyman” Martinez will be going up against Jake Shields in the co-main event of the evening.

Shields is best known for his MMA accomplishments, which have taken place across multiple promotions that include the UFC, Strikeforce, and most recently, the PFL. He’s been a more active competitor in the grappling scene recently, testing his skills for Fight 2 Win, Polaris, and, of course, SUG. He is in fact currently undefeated in his four SUG matches and will be hoping to expand his flawless record for the promotion with a win against Martinez.

Martinez, however, is a very worthy opponent for Shields and will pose a huge threat to the Renzo Gracie athlete. One of 10th Planet’s most celebrated athletes, Martinez made a name for himself with multiple impressive performances at EBI. Since then, he’s continued to raise eyebrows with his submission-heavy resume, and after a superfight win at Polaris 10 last year, he’ll be coming into his match with Shields hungry for another victory.

Shields vs. Martinez will precede a very hyped tag-team match, with Craig Jones and Nick Rodriguez going up against Kyle Boehm and Vinny Magalhaes in the main event. SUG 11 will take place on February 23 and will be available to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
