“Thug” Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade will have some well-deserved time in the spotlight when they face off at the main event of UFC 237.
The matchup itself was announced back in January, but yesterday, MMA Fighting confirmed that the Namajunas vs. Andrade fight would be the main event of the evening on May 11.
Other exciting matchups on the card include Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski and Anderson Silva vs. Jared Cannonier.
The main event will be a fight for the strawweight championship title, which Namajunas has possessed since she took it from Joanna Jedrzejczyk in 2017. Namajunas defended her title against Jedrzejczyk in April of last year and hasn’t defended it since due to injury.
Andrade lost her initial fight for the title in 2017 (also against Jedrzejczyk), but has won her past three fights.
UFC 237 will take place in Brazil on Saturday, May 11.
