UFC 257: Dustin Poirier Finishes Conor McGregor In Round 2

Dustin Poirier has left fans screaming after delivering a TKO win against former UFC champion Conor McGregor in the lightweight main event of UFC 257.

The fighters opened the bout with some quick exchanges, and Poirier got a takedown just over thirty seconds into the match. McGregor scooted back to the cage and managed to get to his feet, reversing the position to force Poirier against the cage. The fighters exchanged shoulder strikes in the clinch, and Poirier then reversed the position and tried to reach for McGregor’s leg, then McGregor reversed the position again. After a few more shoulder strikes, McGregor threw an elbow that allowed him to separate from Poirier. Both opponents did a good job on both offense and defense as they threw punches and kicks and avoided being hit themselves until the round ended.

At the start of round two, Poirier landed a leg kick that made McGregor wobble, but McGregor came right back at him and threw him back with a big hit to the face. Poirier stayed persistent with leg kicks, though McGregor initially managed to catch a foot and force Poirier to hop backward toward the cage. However, Poirier avoided further damage by blocking McGregor’s follow-up punch. With McGregor noticeably hurting on his lead leg, Poirier forced his opponent back to the cage and landed a big left hook, dazing McGregor and following it up with more punches. McGregor tried to get away from danger, but Poirier was relentless and knocked him down and out.

The referee called the fight at 2:32 of round two, giving Poirier the TKO win.

Prior to their fight, McGregor also donated $500,000 to Poirier’s charity The Good Fight Foundation.
