UFC Fighter & BJJ Black Belt Billy Quarantillo Tests Positive For COVID-19 Despite Not Having Symptoms

Matt Frevola is out of this weekend’s UFC event following a positive COVID-19 test from his cornerman, fellow UFC fighter and BJJ black belt Billy Quarantillo.

Frevola has since tested negative for the virus twice and said in an Instagram post that he had provided proof of a positive antibodies test from April, but the UFC still chose to remove him from the event as a precaution.

In a post of his own, Quarantillo said that he hasn’t had symptoms of the virus and expressed his sympathy for his teammate:

Quarantillo fought to a decision win against Spike Carlyle just weeks ago at May 30’s UFC on ESPN 9 event. His positive coronavirus test is so far the first and only positive test from any of the fighters, coaches, or staff involved with the event.

A replacement for Frevola has already been found, and now, Justin Jaynes will make his UFC debut against Frevola’s would-be opponent Frank Camacho.
