Matt Hughes — the former UFC Welterweight Champion and one of only two people to have defeated Georges St-Pierre — returned to the hospital to praise the nurses who treated him.
But it wasn’t only him doing the praise.
“I’m so proud of Matt for his hard work and thankful I was able to meet the great people he calls friends and family,” one of the nurses said of him. “And I was honored they trusted me to care for their loved one…Matt’s story is the epitome of why I became a nurse.”
Hughes was visibly emotional during the nurse’s speech, and was obviously struggling to old back tears.
Matt Hughes was the victim of a life-threatening car accident earlier this year. He beat the odds, however, and made a speedy recovery.
