Following his admirable (and controversial) performance against Tex Johnson at last month’s BJJ Fanatics Grand Prix, rising grappling star William Tackett will face an even more formidable adult opponent: black belt Vagner Rocha. The pair square off on January 24 at JitzKing’s Miami, Florida, event. The card will also feature Boogeyman Martinez, Enrico Cocco, John Combs, Kody Steele, Pam Boveda, and Gillian Robertson, among many others.
A purple belt, Tackett truly proved himself to be an emerging forcing in the sport at JitzKing’s previous event back in July, taking out a 16-man bracket of combined high belts to win the promotion’s title. He also won the London Open, made the podium of ADCC West Coast trials, and took home submission wins at F2W and Third Coast Grappling. And that was just part of this year.
