Yoel Romero Out of UFC Matchup With Jacare Due To “Serious Illness”

Trap-happy ring monster Yoel Romero will not be fighting this month at UFC’s scheduled April 27th fight night in Ft. Lauderdale, according to AG Fight. Reports state that Romero has had to withdraw due to an unexpected bout with pneumonia.

Romero had been scheduled to face rival Ronaldo “Jacare” in Florida. The pair last squared off in Las Vegas in 2015 in a controversial match that ended in split decision. Their 2019 rematch was scheduled to replace the previously rumored face off between Romero and Paulo Costa, which fell apart when Costa was mysteriously pulled off the card. (Romero at that time accused Costa of being barred due to steroid use which was…um…an interesting choice, given his own history with USADA.)

The Fort Lauderdale card remains on sale but seems to be currently seeking a headliner, if any remaining middleweights want to swipe right on Ronaldo–who is not thrilled with Yoel right now–before then:
