Bellator Fighter Anthony Johnson Arrested, Accused Of Using Stolen Credit Card In 2019

Saturday after his successful promotional debut, Bellator fighter Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was arrested on multiple charges of identity theft after allegedly using a stolen credit card to purchase airline tickets in late 2019.

The Daily Voice was the first to report the arrest, and multiple outlets have since obtained police records confirming the news.

Johnson was arrested by the New Canaan police at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Casino, where he claimed victory over Jose Augusto at Bellator 258 on Friday. The charges he faces stem from a report on November 9, 2019, when someone contacted the New Canaan Police Department to report that their credit card had been used without their authorization.

The police report shared by MMA Fighting states, “The illegal use of the credit card was used to purchase a round-trip airline ticket from Ft. Lauderdale, FL (FLL) to Newark, NJ (EWR). The name of the passenger was Anthony Johnson. A subsequent investigation determined Johnson used the illegally obtained credit card to purchase the airline ticket.”

Johnson has since been charged with identity theft and “spending less than $500 on a revoked payment card.” He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 8.
