Combat Jiu-Jitsu champion Kody Steele has been teasing a transition to MMA for a while now, and his first fight has officially been booked.

Fury FC has announced that Steele will be facing off against Kane Lewis in an amateur welterweight bout at Fury FC 49. The event will take place on August 29 at the Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, TX.

Steele has been an impressive rising star for some time now, making his mark with performances like his win over Edwin Najmi in an action-packed match at 3CG 5. He most recently defeated Phillip Rowe at WNO: Jones vs. Ruotolo back in June. This will be his first MMA fight.

Lewis will be returning to the cage after some time; his last fight resulted in a submission loss back in 2015. Prior to that, though, his amateur MMA career got off to a promising start, with his first fight ending with a round-one submission and his second finishing in his favor just ten seconds into round two.

Fury FC 49 will take place on Sunday, August 29, and can be streamed live on UFC FightPass.
