Craig Jones To Face Bellator Veteran Brent Primus At SUG 19

Craig Jones is making his return to Submission Underground at SUG 19 on December 20, and he’ll have his hands full with fellow BJJ black belt Brent Primus.

Jones is, at this point, a household name in the BJJ world, and he’s one of the most consistent competitors for SUG. He’s won all but two of his eleven SUG matches so far, with the first defeat being a controversial loss to Mason Fowler at SUG 16 and the second being a rematch against Fowler at SUG 17, which Jones lost via submission in overtime. While Jones is no doubt eager to put himself back on a winning streak, he’ll have to get past the formidable Primus first.

Primus knows a thing or two about impressive records, having earned a professional MMA record of 10-1 so far in his career. His last two wins in the cage were earned via submission, and he’s the former Bellator lightweight champion as well. His skills on the mats are certainly impressive as well, as he proved at SUG 14 when he submitted Jake Shields in overtime.

The Jones vs. Primus match was added to the card along with a match between UFC veteran Kevin Casey and SUG and EBI veteran Gabriel Checco. Unfortunately, the card lost the highly anticipated match between Derrick Lewis and Ryan Bader, but the two additional matches should certainly make up for it.

SUG 19 will take place on Sunday, December 20 and can be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
