COVID-19 has made its way to another big-name jiu-jitsu/MMA athlete.

Dillon Danis, who received his black belt under Marcelo Garcia, shared on social media that he’d tested positive for the novel coronavirus and mentioned that his symptoms have been “rough.”

“tested positive for Covid 19 today, can’t front i’m a bit nervous symptoms have been rough but thank god i’m undefeated this will not be my first loss.”

Danis’ comment about being undefeated refers to his MMA career, where he’s 2-0 fighting for Bellator. Both wins have come by way of submission, and his last fight was in June of last year.

Danis, who won No-Gi Pans in 2016 and has worked as Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach, is far from the first famous grappler to test positive for the virus. Gordon Ryan and Craig Jones tested positive for COVID-19 back in July, and Ryan later reported that the virus caused him to lose fifteen pounds.
