Garry Tonon: No More Grappling Matches Until After First MMA Match

EBI 13 Full Results

Garry Tonon is retiring from professional grappling competition … temporarily, that is.

The multiple-weight-class EBI Champion and veteran member of the Danaher Death Squad announced via Twitter that he will not be taking any more grappling matches until after his first fight in the Asian MMA organization ONE Championship.

Tonon signed with ONE earlier this year. He has already competed for the promotion, taking on the organization’s former Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki.

Congratulations to @gordonlovesjiujitsu and @nick.ronan on dominant performances and wins over their opponents in @kasaigrappling. Thanks to #biggord for the greatest pre fight pep talk I’ve ever received 😂😂. Thanks to @danaherjohn @tomdeblass @shy_ace for the cornering. I’m excited to announce I will be taking no grappling matches until after my first fight in @onechampionship, it’s been real BJJ world, I’ll see you again someday soon, but now it’s time to learn to beat someone up in a cage.👊👊
