MMA legend Georges St.-Pierre is preparing to announce his retirement tomorrow, according to ESPN.

St.-Pierre, who has a professional record of 26-2, will be making the announcement tomorrow at a Montreal news conference. ESPN’s sources claim that the UFC is aware of the fighter’s choice.

The development will come as a disappointment to the many fans who were hoping to see “GSP” face Khabib Nurmagomedov later this year. In fact, Nurmagomedov himself made a plea to St.-Pierre on social media asking him to postpone his retirement until the two could have a fight.

St.-Pierre told ESPN that he’d seen Nurmagomedov’s message and “appreciated” it, but added that “unfortunately, these decisions aren’t up to us.”

GSP took some time off from the sport between 2013 and 2017, though he never officially announced his retirement. His last fight took place in November 2017 against Michael Bisping and ended in St.-Pierre submitting his opponent in the third round.
