Gilbert Burns’ COVID-19 diagnosis cost him the welterweight title shot against Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 251, but now, the fighter has recovered from his illness and revealed on social media that he tested negative for the virus.

Burns shared his new diagnosis on Twitter, including medical documentation that proves that he’s once again in the clear. Burns took the test just days after the July 12 fight, which Usman ended up winning against last-minute replacement Jorge Masvidal.

Burns, his coach, and his brother/cornerman all tested positive for the virus ahead of UFC 251. It is likely that Burns will get the title shot again in the future now that he’s in the clear from COVID-19.
