A fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Leon Edwards has been canceled for the third time.

Dana White told ESPN that Chimaev was forced to withdraw from the March 13 bout due to lingering effects of COVID-19 that have affected his lungs.

Chimaev vs. Edwards was first scheduled for December 19, but Chimaev was forced to withdraw after contracting the virus. The fight was then rescheduled for January 20, but was again postponed as Chimaev was still suffering from COVID-19 symptoms. Fans were hopeful that the March 13 rebooking would be the final date, but Edwards will now have to seek a new opponent for a different date.

Chimaev is currently 9-0, winning his most recent fight in just seventeen seconds against Gerald Meerschaert back in September. Edwards has won his last eight fights, having last fought in July to a decision victory against Rafael dos Anjos.
