Leon Edwards Vs. Khamzat Chimaev Rebooked For March UFC Headliner

After the fight was cancelled twice, Khamzet Chimaev vs. Leon Edwards has been rescheduled once again.

MMA Junkie has confirmed that the fight will now take place on March 13, when it will serve as the headlining fight for a UFC Fight Night event. A location and venue has not yet been set for the card.

The fight was originally booked for December, but had to be pushed back to January 20 after Chimaev tested positive for COVID-19. As the date drew nearer, though, Chimaev’s lungs still hadn’t recovered from the virus, leading him to withdraw from the fight once again. He has now been given the go-ahead to fight, and fingers are crossed that the welterweight fight will take place on its new date.

Chimaev is currently 9-0 and has finished all of his fights. His last fight, which took place in September, saw him knock out Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds with what was essentially his first punch.

Edwards is riding an eight-fight winning streak, having defeated fighters like Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos in the process. This will be his first fight since July 2019.
