Man Charged With Criminal Trespass After Breaking Into UFC Fighter Anthony Smith’s Home

A man named Luke Haberman has been charged with first-degree criminal trespass after police say he unlawfully entered the home of UFC fighter Anthony Smith.

The reported incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at the light heavyweight’s Nebraska home. In an interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Smith said that his wife woke him up telling him that there was an intruder in the house. Smith says the man started yelling, and his wife went down the hallway to get the couple’s kids. He assumed that the suspect had a weapon, so he tried to hurry up and take him down to subdue him. Smith described him as young, but “super strong,” and after his wife assured him that the kids were fine and had called the police, the suspect began screaming “Luke! Luke!” which prompted the couple to fear that there was someone else in the house as well. Thankfully, he was alone and had no weapons, and the police arrived to take him away.

Smith expressed fear over what had happened, saying that although the man was lighter than him and just an “average Joe” compared to Smith, who’s one of the top MMA fighters in the world, the suspect still put up quite a fight and was able to take the strikes that Smith was giving him. Smith also said that neighbors discovered that the suspect had attempted to enter their own homes, succeeding in doing so in one case.
