Over $12,000 Raised For Veterans Through 3rd Coast Grappling’s We Defy Charity Match

The numbers are in — Gordon Ryan and Brian Marvin‘s superfight at last weekend’s 3rd Coast Grappling: Kumite IV helped raise a grand total of $12,300 for the We Defy Foundation.

The amount will be enough to provide scholarships to six veterans with disabilities to allow them to train jiu-jitsu for a year. The applicants will be selected from a waiting list.

We Defy president Travis Larson shared a post celebrating the initial received amount of over $10,000, though a large donation from Future Kimonos and additional miscellaneous donations later brought the total up to $12,300.

3CG promotor Ryan McGuire had this to say about the event’s success:

“The We Defy Foundation has been a 3CG Partner since day one. We are excited to announce we are at $12,000 total raised for the event and appreciate everyone’s support and contribution even in these crazy times we live in. We just got six veterans a free year of jiu-jitsu and a potential new life in the process. Thank you to Gordon Ryan, FloGrappling, Hywel Teague, Travis Larson, Brian Marvin, TJ Kreutzer and the whole We Defy team for their amazing cause that is doing great work directly with veterans who need it. Jiu-jitsu changes lives, and these guys do it every day.”
