Ralph Gracie is reportedly out of prison early following an original six-month sentence that was handed down in January.

The news was first reported by BJJ Eastern Europe, whose editor learned of Ralph’s release via a conversation with Renzo Gracie in Serbia.

The exact reason for Ralph’s early release, which comes about three months before his original release date, is unknown. However, Renzo reportedly told BJJEE that Ralph had been a “model prisoner” and taught jiu-jitsu to the guards.

Ralph’s friends and family, including Renzo, have shared posts celebrating his release:

Ralph Gracie’s prison sentence stems from a 2018 incident at No-Gi Worlds in which he elbowed Flavio Almeida in the face during what started as a verbal dispute. He was later suspended by the IBJJF, and in April of the following year, a warrant was issued for his arrest. He then went on to miss multiple court dates, ultimately being indicted on felony assault after fleeing to Brazil.

The Jiu-Jitsu Times has reached out to Ralph Gracie for comment and will update this article if we receive a response.
