A special moment has already taken place at this year’s IBJJF No-Gi Worlds: 2005 ADCC champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has earned his certificate to honor his fourth degree on his black belt.
The IBJJF shared a video of Souza earning the certificate:
Souza, who won IBJJF Worlds twice as a black belt and multiple additional times as a colored belt, has had a fruitful competitive BJJ career, but has switched over to competing in MMA in recent years. Last month, he fought against Jan Blachowicz in the main event of UFC Fight Night 164 in Sao Paulo, losing by decision. He earned his BJJ black belt in 2003.
