Russian MMA Legend Fedor Emelianenko Hospitalized With COVID-19

Russian heavyweight MMA pioneer Fedor Emelianenko is in the hospital battling COVID-19, according to Russian news outlet RT.

Public details on Emelianenko’s condition are sparse, but a post on his Instagram page is optimistic as he is treated in a Moscow hospital.

Thank you all who are sincerely worried about my health. I am feeling well now, I am on the mend.
I am grateful to the doctors and medical staff for their care and your hard work.”

Emelianenko is known as one of the top heavyweight MMA fighters in history following an impressive career that started with a rise in the ranks at PRIDE in the 2000s. He then won a whopping 28 consecutive fights before his streak was broken in a Strikeforce fight against Fabricio Werdum. 2017 saw him make the switch to Bellator, and his last fight was a TKO win against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at the end of 2019.
