UFC 261 Full Results: Kamaru Usman Knocks Out Jorge Masvidal In Rematch, Retains Welterweight Title

After a huge night of fights and finishes at UFC 261, welterweight champion Kamaru Usman finished his fight against Jorge Masvidal with his dangerous right hand just over a minute into the second round.

Masvidal came forward with leg kicks after the fight began, and Usman countered with a one-two combo that landed a big right hand on Masvidal. After a solid combo exchange, Masvidal threw a knee, and Usman capitalized to take him to the ground. Usman fought from inside Masvidal’s guard while Masvidal threw elbows from the bottom. Masvidal worked his way to the cage and tried to get to his feet, finally managing to separate from Usman with about a minute left in the first round. Usman connected with a cross and then a jab, and Masvidal tried to finish the round strong with leg kicks and a flying knee.

Round two began with more leg kicks from Masvidal, who initially laughed off Usman’s punches. At the four-minute mark, though, a devastating right hand from Usman sent Masvidal’s head spinning, knocking him down and out. Usman finished the job with a few hammerfists before the referee pulled him off.

Kamaru Usman was declared the winner by knockout at 1:02 into round two, retaining the welterweight title.

The victory marked the first time Masvidal has been finished in a fight since 2009.
