Bernardo Faria: ‘In Jiu-Jitsu, Everyone Is The Same’

BJJ black belt Bernardo Faria is not a fan of the elitism he sees at some jiu-jitsu schools, and he has something to say to upper belts who treat lower belts like nothing:

I believe that in jiu-jitsu, everybody is the same. Even if you have a higher belt or lower belt, for me, just means you are training for a longer time than this guy. It doesn’t mean that you are better than him or anything like that. You’re just training for a longer time.

Of course, lower belts should respect you, but you should also model respect for them.
