Even if you love jiu-jitsu, there’s probably been a time or two when you’ve thought about hanging up your belt and leaving it behind. Particularly in the lower belt stages when you’re constantly getting beat up and tapped out, the temptation to give up can be overwhelming. It’s really no wonder so many white and blue belts walk out of the gym and never come back.
If you’ve been debating whether you should stay or go (or if you just need some motivation before you head to class), take a listen to what Caio Terra himself said to those who attended his seminar on October 15 at Kenny Kim BJJ in Marietta, Georgia. He and black belt professor Kenny Kim delivered some truth about how you’ll really feel if you never put that gi on again (Hint: You won’t be very pleased with yourself).
Check out this inspirational video for yourself. If the words of two accomplished black belts aren’t enough to get your butt back on the mats, watching some dedicated students receiving their new belts definitely will.
