On March 20, 2016, Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen fought in a grappling contest at the UR Fight event. Bisping weighed 212 pounds and Sonnen weighed 221 pounds. In the first round (lasting five minutes), both fighters traded strikes and neither man went to the mat.
In the second round, Bisping attempted a trip takedown on the turnbuckle, but Sonnen got away. At the end of the round, Sonnen tried to execute a heel hook, while Bisping performed a scissor takedown.
In the third round, Sonnen gained top control while Bisping tried another scissor takedown. The round ended with both men jockeying for advantage on the mat. Then, the contest was declared a draw.
