UFC fighter, grappler, and self-styled gorilla Darren Till made headlines this week for reportedly trashing a hotel room and then “accidentally” stealing a taxi before being apprehended in La Caleta, Spain.
According to The Daily Mail and later MMA Fighting, Till and a small entourage of Brits were first ejected from a “lodging complex” in Costa Adeje for breaking furniture and discharging the fire extinguishers because alcohol. They then made their way to another hotel in El Duque but were denied entrance entirely.
The quintet then called a cab to take them elsewhere. When the cabbie was loading the luggage into the trunk, Till and another unnamed tourist hopped in the front and took off in the Volkswagen Caddy leaving the driver behind. They were stopped and then arrested by Spanish police in La Caleta.
Till is coming off a hard loss to Jorge Masvidal last month, and remains the No. 6 ranked Welterweight in the UFC.
